Heather King's historical horse books.

Heather is a friend of mine, we've corresponded for many years, and she has just completed the third volume of her magnum opus work about horses in history. I have just ordered the third, which is about coaching inns and routes, and I use the first two a great deal when writing anything about horses. They are very readable and useful, and I think Heather needs a boost. She has researched with great depth, going into treatises of horses and carriages from the period, and I honestly do not think there is a more comprehensive work available.  I plagued her with questions before she wrote the books, and she used what I wanted to know in what she decided to include.  I confess mine has extra notes in margins as well, but then, I want to know esoteric things like how far Ogien could be expected to jump and how long it takes a bunch of winged hussars to reach charge speed.

As Heather is largely a Regency author, she has concentrated mainly on the regency with a nod to periods previous.  As there is more than one Heather King writing, and she isn't as fashionable, she's harder to find.

The first is about types of horses, their points, things that can go wrong, and how they have developed.

The second is about driving, and carriages.

all are available in Kindle as well.
