In 2020 for each date
And posting at my daily rate
Of words, two to three thousand strong
And writing each day, all day long
A million words flowed from my pen
Or rather, keyboard, fingers ten.
A million words! No hesitation
In that productive isolation
When time flowed past unnoticed, quiet,
Without the daily traffic riot
No blares, nor squeals of tyres on street
No children’s shouts or running feet
But in this lockdown period madness
I must feel guilt for others’ sadness
And one year on it’s not a joke
Under this Covid’s prison yoke
And even antisocial me
Is climbing walls to soon be free.
I read it with the song "One day more"of The Mis in my head. Lovely poem.
