summer's day, a pantoum

Summer’s day [pantoum]

Upon a lazy summer’s day
All somnolent in sunshine soft
Soothed by the thrumming bees at play
And carillons of larks aloft.

All somnolent in sunshine soft
In flowery bowery nest I lay
All redolent with scents that waft
Balm to my spirit, woes allay.

In flowery bowery nest I lay
The crooning doves in pigeon loft
A gentle song as they parlay
A chuckling coo in their high croft

The crooning doves in pigeon loft
Soothed by the thrumming bees at play
As from each flower’s nectar quaffed
Upon a lazy summer’s day.
