elizabethan dances

here's a good view of the Volta here and the second pair show how a man is supposed to use his thigh and knee to boost the lift of the woman  and yet they manage to be moderately decorous

and here is a galliard with a rather voltaish movement at the end.

  1. Thank you for sharing these. I had never seen Reinassance dances, though I’ve been to several historical re-enacting events.

    Diccon does have a point about men doing all the hard work...

    1. I found the research fascinating; I am quite capable of performing most dances of Austen's era, though the cotillion passes my two left feet by!
      You can hide a multitude of miss-steps under long wide skirts, the men must display for their mates like many birds, and as I have suggested Ruby dragons also do.
